Year 5/6
Palacio Class
Autumn Term (First Half Term)
Palacio Class
We have been very busy settling into our new class this term!
In English, we have enjoyed reading the story, Wonder, by R.J. Palacio, who our class is named after. We have completed lots of creative writing and Drama based on the story.
In Maths, we have been busy practising the four operations using formal, written methods.
We have particularly enjoyed completing Science experiments this half term, specifically testing the properties of different materials. We have also enjoyed making Oobleck for Enrichment!
We have really enjoyed creating Pop Art, using both watercolours and IPad apps for our digital media work, as well as participating in Flag Football in PE.
Rivendell
Summer Term (Second Half)
What an end to the year! Rivendell worked hard on their learning up until the very end! In English, we worked on some amazing writing based on ‘The Arrival’ by Shaun Tan. We also had the opportunity to write some poetry and attend a poetry workshop with Michael Rosen for Refugee Week. In Maths, we worked on algebra and geometry. We also enjoyed learning about line graphs and pie charts.
Lots of Rivendell Class went to Lambourne End and had an amazing time camping. We went zip lining, did some archery, raft building, caving and so much more. Those that stayed at school created some amazing booklets about their interests.
We have also worked really hard on our production ‘What a Knight!’ and had so much fun in the process.
Well done Year 6s for fantastic SATs results and best of luck moving up to secondary school in September!
