Reception/Year 1
Atinuke Class
Autumn Term (First Half Term)
Atinuke class have been busy exploring their classroom and learning new routines such as lining up, tidying up and coming to the carpet when asked. We have been getting to know each other’s names, practicing how to take turns, share resources and play nicely with all of our new friends.
We have been using the words ‘same’ and ‘different’ to describe patterns and numbers in maths but also when comparing our height and when looking at the features of our faces. We talked about ‘genes’, created an eye-colour chart and had great fun creating our faces out of loose bits and bobs.
We have been doing lots of singing and have enjoyed reading and acting out the story of ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. We painted, and cut out, bears and enjoyed making pretend porridge and birthday cakes for each character. We made our own porridge in the microwave. The children talked about how the coarse oats changed into smooth creamy porridge and then tasted a wide variety of yummy toppings!
Neverland
Summer Term 2022
Neverland have been learning lots about homes long ago, rainforests and seaside holidays. In DT, we have been learning about structures and working collaboratively to make simple chairs.
It was so lovely to welcome parents into school for Sports Day and the summer fair. The children very much enjoyed participating in their races and represented the house team brilliantly.
To mark the end of Neverland’s Reception journey they ended the summer term with a teddy bears picnic on the school field. The children decorated biscuits in the morning and ate them under the shade of the fruit trees and played games.
