Mental Health and Wellbeing
At Fen Ditton, we are committed to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our students and staff.
Our culture is supportive, caring and respectful. This is reflected in our school values of kindness, respect, courage and resilience. We encourage students to be open and we want each student to have their voice heard.
At Fen Ditton, we know that everyone experiences different life challenges, and that each of us may need help to cope with them sometimes. We understand that anyone and everyone may need additional emotional support. At our school, positive mental health is everybody’s responsibility. We all have a role to play.
We raise awareness for mental health in a variety of ways:
- Frequent mindfulness sessions throughout the week to support the children with their wellbeing.
- The use of the Zones of Regulation terminology and strategies to enable the children to regulate their own emotions.
- Awareness days throughout the year, such as Young Mind’s Hello Yellow day.
- Explicit teaching of emotional vocabulary and strategies to build mental health in our weekly PSHE lessons.
If you have any concerns or queries about your child’s mental health and wellbeing, please speak to your child’s class teacher.
