Our Year 5 and 6 students had the incredible opportunity to attend a live chemistry lecture, where they experienced the magic of science up close. The session was packed with exciting experiments, demonstrating a range of fascinating chemical reactions that had the children on the edge of their seats. From dramatic colour changes to fizzing and bubbling mixtures, each experiment brought science to life in an engaging and memorable way.

Throughout the lecture, students learned about how different chemicals are created and how they interact with elements found on Earth. They explored concepts such as states of matter, reactions between different substances, and the role of chemistry in our everyday lives. The interactive demonstrations not only helped them visualise these ideas but also encouraged them to ask thought-provoking questions and think like real scientists.

One of the highlights of the trip was seeing how seemingly ordinary substances can react in extraordinary ways, producing bright colours, surprising explosions, and even changes in temperature. The awe and excitement in the room were clear as students eagerly discussed their favourite experiments and the science behind them.

This fantastic experience has certainly sparked curiosity and inspired enthusiasm for chemistry among our young learners. A huge thank you to the presenters for making the session so engaging and educational—we may have some future chemists in the making!
